YNU MUSLIM BAZAAR
A BAZAAR (Market) that gives you tastes of multi culture!
YOKOMS is the association of Muslim Students of Yokohama National University (YNU) from different countries around the globe. In this May YOKOMS is going to participate in YNU-Cultural-Festival with one flamboyant stall. The stall is going to serve exquisite and delicious food from Egypt and Malaysia. Besides the stall, Muslim Culture and Traditions will be exhibited like, Hijab practice for women and Arabic calligraphy.
Shawerma a popular food from all over south Asia and Arab countries will be served. Grilled chicken with special species is filled inside pita bread is called SHAWERMA. Roti Jala a traditional Malaysian food will be prepared. The food is consists of meat curry with perforated baked bread. A special Malaysian Shaved ice (Ais kacang) with coconut milk and fruits is also going to be served.
Hijab is a veil that covers the head of women and practiced by Muslim women. Hijab is a sign of modesty, beauty and respect for the women. It will be great an opportunity for non-muslim sisters to practice Hijab for a while and to realize the essence of it. Moreover, it is totally free to try with a traditional Malaysian dress.
In Arabic calligraphy, scripts are written in cursive style from right to left. It is very stylish and a bit similar to kanji but requires expertise. Come and get a beautiful bookmark of your name written in Arabic.
